Ham Training collects nothing. There is no account, no sign-up, no analytics and no network access of any kind. Nothing you do in the app leaves your device. The Wear OS build does not even request the internet permission, so it is technically incapable of sending anything anywhere.
A handful of settings, saved locally so the app remembers them:
On Apple Watch these live in an App Group container shared between the app and its complication; on Wear OS they live in the app's private preferences. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
The Grid screen asks for location only while you are using the app, and only when you open that screen or tap Refresh. Your coordinates are used on the device to compute a Maidenhead locator — a coarse grid square of roughly 850 × 460 metres — which is then shown to you and stored locally so the glanceable complication or tile has something to display.
Your coordinates are not stored, not logged and not transmitted. Location is never requested in the background. Declining the permission simply leaves the Grid screen empty; every other part of the app works normally.
The app plays audio — the Morse sidetone, and speech on the Phonetics and Q-Code screens. It never records audio and does not request microphone access.
None. The app has no network capability. It ships with all of its reference data — the Morse table, the phonetic alphabet and the Q-codes — bundled inside it, and works identically in airplane mode, on a summit, or with the radios off.
There are none. No advertising SDK, no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, no third-party libraries that phone home.
The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It collects no data from anyone, including children under 13.
Because nothing is collected, there is nothing held on any server and nothing to request the deletion of. Removing the app from your device removes the handful of local settings with it.
Any change will be posted on this page with a new date. If a future version of the app ever collects anything at all, it will be stated here before that version ships.
